Advances in the assessment and rehabilitation of existing infrastructures

Curricula: Civil Engineering

Duration:12 hours

SSD CEAR-07/A – Structural Analysis and Design

Lecturer: Prof. Bruno Briseghella

Professor at the Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari” (UNIMORE

Objectives

The course aims to introduce the new advances on assessment and rehabilitation of existing infrastructures. In addition to the fundamental concepts necessary to understand the causes and mechanisms of bridge deterioration, the course will provide a detailed description of the most advanced methodologies for the assessment and rehabilitation of existing infrastructures.

Syllabus

  • DETERIORATION OF AGING BRIDGES: the causes and mechanisms of bridge deterioration will be introduced and explained.
  • ASSESSMENT OF DETERIORATED BRIDGES: accurate methodologies for the assessment of deteriorated bridges, predicting their residual life and planning suitable maintenance interventions will be introduced.
  • USE OF UHPC FOR REHABILITATION OF EXISTING BRIDGES: The application of ultra-high performance concrete for repairing and strengthening different bridges parts (i.e., bridge column, bridge girder, bridge deck, expansion joints) will be introduced.
